The Nativity of Mary

The Church celebrates Mary’s birthday every year on September 8. Her parents, Anne and Joachim, were infertile but received a promise of a child who would advance God’s plan. Saint Augustine connects Mary’s birth with our salvation, telling us to rejoice and shine forth in the light of her birth!
