Saint Macarius

Humble and obedient, Macarius longed to live an ascetic life. After many trials, he retreated into the desert, seeking Saint Anthony the Great who became his friend. Saint Macarius was chosen to carry on Saint Anthony’s monastic community and received his staff when the beloved desert father passed.
