Saint Gregory the Great

Preferring a quiet life, Gregory was hesitant to answer the call when elected pope but trusted in God’s will. As pope, he strengthened core elements of the Faith like liturgy and doctrine, while prioritizing works of charity. For his many profound writings, Gregory is a Doctor of the Church.
