Pope Francis

In 2013, Jorge Mario Bergoglio became the first pope from the Americas and the first to take the name Francis, in honor of Saint Francis of Assisi. Throughout his papacy, he shared Saint Francis’ heart for the marginalized and called all Christians to greater charity.
