(Forerunners) Judith

When an invading army threatened her city, Judith rebuked the leaders who wanted to surrender. She reminded them of the mighty God they served, and led a prayer for His protection. Then, disguised as a queen, she went to the enemy camp to confront the fearsome Holofernes whom she tricked and beheaded. At the sight of Holofernes’ head in Judith’s hand, the rest of the army fled and the city was saved.
