From humble beginnings as a shepherd, David rose to become Israel’s greatest king. His faith in God gave him the courage to defeat Goliath and his gifts as a poet and musician are preserved in the Psalms, which express his praise, struggles, and abiding trust in God. Though his life was marked by both triumph and failure, David’s repentance revealed a heart that always returned to the God who had chosen him.
