Saint Amelia

Arm Injuries
Fevers
Bruises
Swelling

Born in 741, in the tiny country of Luxembourg, Saint Amelia was a lovely young woman when she caught the attention of a king. He wanted to marry her, but she wanted to become a nun. They struggled and fought and during the fight, he broke her arm. Immediately, God miraculously healed her arm. The king then realized that it was God’s will for Saint Amelia to become a nun.

Not much is known about Saint Amelia, but we do know that she had a great devotion to Mary Our Mother. She even helped to build a church dedicated to Mary. Legend has it that Amelia once crossed a river on the back of a fish!

Saint Amelia is the patron saint of Belgium, which is near Luxembourg. She is also the patron saint of arm injuries, bruises, fever, and swelling. Saint Amelia will intercede for those who ask her to increase their courage, and to aid them in standing up against evil.
